The best approach to understanding the capabilities
of Horary techniques is that questions are resolved
that have pertinent and particular effect on the
client and are relatively short to to medium term
in their outcome that is to say ranging in time from
3 months to perhaps a maximum of two years. In
addition to the purely technical issue of reading the
chart, the particular question must be understood by
the mutual and shared intelligence that forms when a
client contacts the Horary Practitioner. There needs
to be a sensitive and intuitive understanding
that leads to a delicate preservation of the clients
needs and wants. If this does not exist the question
is probably not creating the elements of the solution
and will not produce a chart applicable to the clients
pertinent concerns.

The standard relationship question "Does he or she love
me" is a good example of validity as it directly affects
the client and the emotion stimulates immediate action.
Questions that involve long timing are not a good candidate
for Horary although they are ideal for Natal techniques.
Natal astrology is far more applicable to long term
issues being able to show situations throughout ones life
and Horary the effect of multiple forces at a particular
moment. "Will I be invited to the party" is ideal Horary
material but "Will my son's friend go to college" is too
probably distant in personal impact and possibly too far
in terms of timing. The question "Will my son be happy
with friends at college" is valid as there is direct
concern for a close relative that impacts upon oneself.
But assuming a close relationship with our children a
question of the form "Will my son go to college" is
also even closer and addresses enough of the clients
concern that the technique will work.
As we reduce the impact of the question on our own life the answer becomes diluted and this dilution of emotional impact and sincere concern should be guarded against. Always we seek to present the question as "locally" as possible.
Questions about Safety, Finance, Houses and Property,
our own or adopted children, work, relationships, loans
and mortgages, Study, career, judgments and contracts
are all excellent candidates for this approach. Questions
involving medium or spirit work are usually not easily
approached depending on the individual Horary Practioner.
Typically medical and legal issues being professional
concerns are not accepted due to legal requirements.
